Edit: Gandhi beat his wife and wouldn’t let her get treatment when she was sick which ultimately killed her. Mother Teresa withheld food from children until they converted to her religion or died. Everyone sucks.

That doesn’t follow. “Harm” doesn’t necessarily mean “kill”, and even people who believe in that sort of thing don’t claim that all or even most ghosts are malevolent.

People are actually meant to be functionally immortal, but ghosts always catch up to us and make us die within about a century at most.
