They are an incredibly talented group, and they really put on a great show.

I saw them once. I did not understand what I was in for. I had a great time.

I’ve only seen Flogging Molly once, but that might have been the most fun I’ve ever had at a show. Good people and good vibes all around.

I saw Mastodon a couple of times when they were on tour with Coheed and Cambria in 2019. Those guys are great at what they do. 10/10, would recommend.
Tool has been fantastic every time I’ve seen them. Tool fans, on the other hand, can be a mixed bag.

Game of Thrones was a very good adaptation until they passed the end of A Dance With Dragons.
Some things were improved. I think show!Daenerys is better than book!Daenerys. Her whole storyline was improved in the show, especially in terms of pacing.
Some things were underwhelming or completely changed. They failed to make Tryion and Ramsay Bolton truly monstrous, but I get that some things don’t play well on screen. They also butchered my favorite character (Stannis Baratheon) because they fundamentally misunderstood his motivation. Fine, whatever, I’m over it.
I would still recommend the show up through season 5.
Everything after that is high-budget fanfic in terms of the story and the quality of the writing. I disliked the ending of the show – it felt very slapdash and didn’t feel “realistic” within its existing context. I would recommend that new viewers just stop after season 5 and imagine how they think things should resolve after that.
Better yet, read the books instead.

Legion was too good for this world. It was trippy and crazy and perfect. Thank you for reminding me.

Agreed.
Anyone who is reading this and hasn’t watched, it’s absolutely worth your time. The whole series is excellent.

In our house, we say that BBT seems to have been made to make fun of nerds. It’s not for us.
The IT Crowd feels like it was made by nerds, for nerds. Same for Community.

It’s nice to see The Leftovers getting some recognition. It was an excellent show.

Be warned: Peep Show is not for everyone.
I think it’s hilarious, but my husband can’t handle that subgenre of British humor where the characters are in increasingly uncomfortable situations.

I enjoyed it, but I thought the podcast was better.

I think at some point it will come out that the corporate subscription is no different and the LLM companies have been scraping everything for training data.

I don’t think the LLM made your response better in a meaningful way. Sure, it cleaned up the grammar a little bit, but the rephrasing in a few places is not necessary.
Trust yourself to communicate without help from external software.
Or even hoja de laurel molida. And then you don’t have to fish it out.
I live in a country where ground bay leaf is a very common spice to use. It’s just another powdered spice in a jar or a bag like cinnamon or curry.

Just tagging on to add that if you haven’t read the novella I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, it’s worth your time.
It has been adapted to film three times that I know of. The first was The Last Man on Earth, starring Vincent Price. Matheson was so upset with the finished product that he refused to allow his name on the film even though he wrote the original screenplay. The second was The Omega Man with Charlton Heston, which has its flaws but is still the best adaptation IMO.
I had high hopes for the Will Smith film in 2007, but the creatures and the ending were entirely wrong.
The original story is great, but it’s such a slow burn with a mindfuck ending that I have given up hope of ever seeing an accurate portrayal on film. It would have to be something on the level of a passion project from Peter Jackson or Guillermo del Toro, from a director who loved the source material enough not to change it significantly.
I saw the movie for the first time when I was 5, and I mostly loved it, except that this scene was extremely traumatic for me. I’m also a girl.
I hadn’t really considered that there might be a gender divide over this film, but it does make sense that boys would identify more with a male protagonist. I’m an elementary teacher, and I do see that kids are more likely to engage with stories that have protagonists of their same gender.
I did it last year, and I’ve been very happy with the results.
I’m reasonably tech-savvy for a user. I can follow instructions, but I don’t understand the super technical stuff. I watched a few YouTube videos and read a few tutorials, and it was all pretty easy.
The system updates are easier than Windows. I don’t have to understand what a kernel is; I just have to click the update button.
I have seen Tori Amos several times. Her shows are always unique, and even the “hits” get reworked and are not performed the same way every time. She’s definitely my favorite artist to see live.
Coheed and Cambria is my current obsession. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen them. Their sets are basically the same for a whole tour, but they put their hearts and souls into every performance and their fanbase is an amazing group of people.
Saosin, Circa Survive, LS Dunes … I would listen to Anthony Green sing directly out of the phone book no matter who’s backing him.
Alkaline Trio was my favorite band in the early 2000s. I lost count of their shows, too. They have less energy these days, and Matt Skiba’s voice isn’t what it used to be. But we had a helluva lot of fun at their gigs back in the day.
Others I’ve seen multiple times include Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Thursday, Chris Cornell, Taking Back Sunday, The Decemberists, Toadies, Reggie and the Full Effect, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, and I’m sure I’m missing at least a couple of others.
Missing out on live music is my only regret about leaving the US to live abroad.
