  • Worse for sure.

At my age, they were already married with kids and had enough to build a dream house in a decent town. Both had stable jobs that were considered good despite neither having a college degree.

I’m in a decent job that pays me (on paper) more money than my parents used to make, but I had to get my master’s degree to get here, and I’m still trying to pay off 8 years of student debt (though I’m getting closer each paycheck).

Between that, rent, and the sheer cost of everything these days, my partner and I are nowhere close to the point where we could afford a house, and we definitely could not afford to have even one kid, let alone three.

We’re at least not living paycheck to paycheck, but there have been industry layoffs left and right that have me feeling like any day could be my turn. I’d love to have more of a safety net in that situation, but there’s not all that much left over for us to put towards savings or retirement. Meanwhile, my parents are retired now, while I’m fully expecting to work until I die.

Edit: Forgot to clarify that this is the US, if the existence of student debt wasn’t already a giveaway.

  • Can even turn Venus into an easier direct sell. It’s a lot bigger than Mars (more land = more money), actually has an atmosphere, is named after a Roman sex goddess, and is 100% free of communism (the USSR’s probes were destroyed).

Sure, the scientists warn that the greenhouse effect causes Venus’s temperature to exceed 400°C on the surface, but they already know those scientists are full of removed because the greenhouse effect is fake news.

  • Yeah, it’s a texture thing for me, too.

Some people like a good contrast of textures in food. I prefer consistency. So I hate anything in a burger that has any amount of cold or crunch. Mushrooms I can do, but tomatoes make it worse for me.

Especially when you fail to bite all the way through the tomato and end up pulling the whole thing out along with half the other burger toppings.

  • Had me curious so I looked it up. Most recent I could find is that she released a book in 2020, and she appears to be semi-active on Instagram, with her most recent post being a few weeks ago, and apparently making an appearance at a premiere for a movie from The Oatmeal as of 5 days ago.

  • I played Remake, then played the original FF7, and then played Rebirth. They’re not very comparable games, but I think I enjoy Remake/Rebirth more than the original.

But I acknowledge that I don’t have the nostalgic attachment to FF7 like others do. To me, I feel like the original game did not age well. I’ve played every other mainline Final Fantasy game (except for 11) and I honestly think 7 is the worst of the PS1 trilogy.

I also wouldn’t treat Remake/Rebirth as separate chapters of an incomplete game. They’re all full-size games. I beat the original FF7 in about 2/3 the time it took me to beat Rebirth.

  • It’s always been about keeping guns out of the hands of the undesirables. That’s the only consistent logic we see over the years.

American conservatives endorse stricter gun control every time there are concerns about minorities and/or the left arming themselves.

Meanwhile, they want no regulations to inconvenience the mythical good guy with a gun. As long as that “good guy” is a conservative white Christian.
